Morgane Hearth
Hi, I’m Morgane and I’m a fingerstyle bluegrass musician from the swamps of Deep South Georgia! But now that I’m performing in Copenhagen, I want to tell a story not often told in the bluegrass world: one of the self-discovery and redemption inherent in being a transgender woman.
In my debut album, Cherisher, I recount my years of transition with vivid metaphor and catchy melodies, examples of which you can hear in my tracks linked below. When arranging my music, I like to create a dense, earthy atmosphere, so I use many-part vocal harmonies and an eclectic variety of instruments like acoustic guitar, mandolin, cello, spoons, and even a homemade cigar-box guitar!
Speaking of eclecticism, my list of influences ranges from bluegrass classics like Doc Watson and Bill Monroe; to contemporary progressive bluegrass acts like Nickel Creek and Belá Fleck; to jazz-funk acts like Louie Cole and Snarky Puppy; all the way to the progressive metal bands I grew up with, like Mastodon, Gojira, and Meshuggah. That last one is particularly present in the third sample track below, an instrumental called “Fruitcake” :)
Anways, below are some photos, videos, and samples of my music. My album is already mixed and mastered, I’m just still looking for the right home for it, which may be your label! Please feel free to contact me in either of the following ways if you’d like more information from me:
